Walnut Hill Church Weekly Letter

Tuesday, December 31, 2013

Greetings to all!

Whether it be a new year or a new day, the future always arrives
with surprises.

Each day (year) holds a surprise.  But only if we expect it can we
see, hear, or feel it when it comes to us.  Let's not be afraid to
receive each day's surprise, whether it comes to us as sorrow
or as joy.  It will open a new place in our hearts, a place where
we can welcome new friends and celebrate more fully our
shared humanity.
(Henri Nouwen as found in Bread for the Journey)

Thanks to all those who attended Christmas Eve services
(approximately 170 persons) and who gave generously in support
of the Innkeeper's Offering.  Over $700 was received to support
the Salvation Army in its work of providing shelter and other
services to homeless women, children, and families.

Happy New Year!
