Walnut Hill Church Weekly Letter

Wednesday, January 14, 2015

Greetings to all!

This Monday, January 19, is the Martin Luther King, Jr, Holiday.
It seems appropriate to spend some time reflecting on Dr. King's
life and legacy, as well as the opportunities and challenges before
us today.  Consider this recollection from Dr. King.

A child of no more than eight walked with her mother one day
in a demonstration.  An amused policeman leaned down to her
and said with mock gruffness, "What do you want?"
The child looked into his eyes, unafraid, and gave her answer.
"F'eedom," she said.
She could not even pronounce the word, but no Gabriel
trumpet could have sounded a truer note.

The lectionary texts for Sunday, January 18...
   1 Samuel 3:1-10
   1 Corinthians 6:12-20
   John 1:43-51

Sunday Conversations continue this Sunday, Jan 18, 10am,
in Trinity Hall.  This Sunday we continue our conversation titled,
"Making Our Voice Heard," focusing on issues regarding which
we would like to make our voices heard, and how we might do
that.  Come, enjoy a cup of coffee, join the conversation, or just
listen in.
