Walnut Hill Church Weekly Letter

Wednesday, August 12, 2015

Greetings to all!

Schools are opening all around the area these days, including Fayette
County Public Schools opening today, August 12.  Whether or not we have
school age children in our household, we all have a vested interest in the
success of students.  Today is a good day to be in prayer for our schools.
Consider using this prayer from the Walnut Hill Worship Book.

Almighty God, we beseech Thee with Thy gracious favor to behold our
universities, colleges, and schools, that knowledge may be increased among
us, and all good learning flourish and abound.  Bless all who teach and all
who learn, and grant that in humility of heart they may ever look unto Thee,
who art the Fountain of all wisdom;  through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

The lectionary texts for Sunday, August 16:
1 Kings 2:10-12; 3:3-14
Ephesians 5:15-20
John 6:51-58

Sunday Conversations resume this Sunday, August 16, 10am, in Trinity
Hall, beginning a series of conversations titled, "Living the Questions."
LtQ provides a format for talking about questions of faith and life.  Each
session poses a question for conversation, beginning with a video featuring
scholars and theologians.  Join us as we "live the questions" beginning
this Sunday.

Kroger Community Rewards:  August is "re-enrollment" month for the
Kroger Community Rewards program.  Persons participating in the
program must renew the designation for the "rewards" generated by their
shopping.  Visit  www.Kroger.com/communityrewards  to renew your
participation or to begin participating for the first time.  Walnut Hill's
organization number is  46525 .  Walnut Hill has received over $500 in
community rewards since the program began in late 2014.  Contact the
church office (263-5304) if you have questions about or need any assistance
(re)enrolling in the rewards program.

Thanks to all those who, by their service and leadership, made it possible
for the Ward family to enjoy some family vacation time over these last couple
weeks.  Your efforts demonstrated the importance and the capacity of the
congregation to carry on Walnut Hill's life and ministry in the pastor's
absence.  Thanks to all!

Peace to all.

Mike Ward
