Walnut Hill Church Weekly Letter

Wednesday, April 7, 2010

Greetings to all!

This week's tragedy in West Virginia makes us mindful of the many
persons who do dangerous work for our security or comfort.  Consider
the following prayer for all those whose work is particularly dangerous.

God of earth and air, height and depth: we pray for those who work in
danger above, below, or on the earth.  Give them caution and a concern
for one another, so that in safety they may do what must be done, under
your watchful love, in Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

(from The Worshipbook)

The Scripture lessons for Sunday, April 11, the 2nd Sunday of Easter:
Acts 10:34-43
Revelation 1:4-8
John 20:19-31

Sunday Conversations resume this Sunday, April 11, 10am, in Trinity
Hall.  Our topic for the day will be, "Will You Dream," a video
presentation by the Most Rev. Katharine Jefferts Schori, Presiding
Bishop of the Episcopal Church (USA).  Feel free to enjoy a cup of
coffee, join the conversation, or just listen in.

Youth Discussion - Youth are invited to gather during the worship hour
on Sunday, April 11, for viewing and discussion of the "Nooma" video
series.  Youth discussion meets in the upstairs office of Trinity Hall.

Host(s) Needed -  A host(s) is needed for our after worship refreshments
this Sunday, April 11.  Remember that our refreshments need not be
elaborate, just something simple to gather around as we fellowship.  Use
reply email to volunteer for this Sunday, or check the sign up sheet in
the foyer for available Sundays later in the spring.

Cemetery Association - The Walnut Hill Cemetery Association will hold
its annual meeting on Sunday, April 18, immediately after morning
worship.  Persons with business for this meeting should contact
Cemetery Association president, Mark Horman.  All members and friends
of Walnut Hill Church are members of the Walnut Hill Cemetery Association.

One Great Hour of Sharing - Households that have been using OGHS
collection boxes during Lent are requested to return those boxes to
Walnut Hill by Sunday, April 11, so that the offering may be counted and
sent on to provide disaster relief and refugee resettlement around the
globe.

Community Fund Nominations - This is a final call for nominations of
agencies and organizations to receive grants from the Walnut Hill Church
Community Fund.  Grants will assigned during an open meeting later
in the spring.

Peace to all.

Mike Ward
