Walnut Hill Church Weekly Letter

Wednesday, August 14, 2013

Greetings to all!

Fayette County schools open today, as will other schools in the
coming days and weeks.  Consider this prayer as found in the
Walnut Hill Church Worship Book.

Almighty God, we beseech Thee with Thy gracious favor to
behold our universities, colleges, and schools, that knowledge
may be increased among us, and all good learning flourish and
abound.  Bless all who teach and all who learn, and grant that
in humility of heart they may ever look unto Thee, who art the
Fountain of all wisdom; through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

The scripture lesson for Sunday, August 18...
Matthew 25:31-40

Men's Coffee -Walnut Hill men are invited to gather for coffee
on Saturday mornings, 8am, at Paneras on Richmond Road.
No rsvp required.

Sunday Conversations continue this Sunday, August 18, 10am,
with an opportunity to reflect on our just completed Sunday
series, Celebrating our Interfaith Neighborhood. What did we
learn?  What new questions do we have?  How might we
follow up this experience? etc...

Celebrating Service!  Many Walnut Hill folks serve others
through organizations and agencies in Lexington and beyond.
We would like to celebrate such service.  Use reply email to let
us know if you, or someone you know, has a story of service to
share.

Photo Directory - We are in the process of publishing a photo
directory.  If you have not already done so, you may have your
photo taken after worship this Sunday (Aug 18) or next (Aug 25).
Other arrangements can be made to have a photo taken or to
submit your own.  Use reply email for more information.

THANK YOU to all those who, in a variety of ways, made it
possible for me to enjoy these past six weeks of sabbatical and
vacation.  I look forward to sharing some of my experiences
during worship this Sunday, and I look forward to hearing some
of your experiences over these coming days and weeks.  It
has been a good time for me, and I trust it has been a good time
for the congregation as well, and it is good to be back!

Peace,

Mike Ward
