Walnut Hill Church Weekly Letter

Wednesday, July 13, 2016

Greetings to all!

As the nation continues to mourn the deaths of five Dallas police officers while
simultaneously wrestling with occasions of the use of deadly force by police and
societal violence in general, we become aware of how much work there is to be done
in the healing of our national life.  I hope that we, as people of faith, might see that
healing as our particular calling.  We might begin our work with prayer:

God of the ages, in your sight nations rise and fall, and pass through difficult times.
Now when our land is troubled, be near to judge and save. May leaders be led by
your wisdom;  may they search your will and see it clearly.  May the people seek
the good of their neighbors as well as their own.  Where we have failed to live in
to our best ideals, grant us renewed vision to see and live toward them.  Give us
your light and truth to guide us; through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of this world,
and our Savior.  Amen.
